MOSCOW, Oct 17 (PRIME) -- Russian manufacturers of computers, phones, servers, and other electronics have seen a rise in the delivery of defective components, business daily Kommersant reported on Monday.
The share of faulty microchips and components in the supplies from China has risen to 40% from 2% since the beginning of the operation in Ukraine, a market source told the daily.
He explained it by the fact that after the end of official cooperation of foreign distributors with Russian partners, the latter started adjusting channels of electronics and components imports via non-official sellers.
“The increase of defects will double the final price of Russian electronics and delay manufacturing time,” the source said.
A top manager at a large electronics maker confirmed the problem and added that deficit of the components provoked by the logistics broken during the pandemic, has deepened because of the sanctions in 2022. Producers have to purchase components from non-authorized suppliers who bear no responsibility for the quality of goods, the executive added.
